India vs UAE Salary: 5 Jobs Compared
These are average or typical monthly salaries. Your pay can be lower or higher depending on the company, your experience and your licence.

So on paper, the same job in the UAE pays about 3 to 6 times more than in Kerala. Nurses see the biggest jump. But salary is not savings. Let’s look at costs.
What It Costs to Live in the UAE
A single worker sharing a room in the UAE usually pays for these:
- Bed space or partition: about AED 800 – 1,200 a month in Sharjah or older parts of Dubai. Newer areas cost more.
- Metro and bus: a 30-day Nol pass for one zone is AED 140.
- Mobile: about AED 50 and up for a prepaid plan.
- Food: depends a lot on how you live. Cooking together with roommates costs much less than eating out.
Some companies give free accommodation and transport, especially for jobs like drivers, technicians and warehouse staff. This makes the biggest difference to your savings, so always check it in your offer letter.
Real Savings: A Driver’s Month
Here is a simple example for a driver. We take away rent, travel and phone. Food is not included because it depends on you.

Even if you pay your own rent in the UAE, you can save about 2 times more than at home. With company accommodation, it can be about 4 times more. If you live in a PG in Kochi (₹8,000 – 14,000), the gap is even bigger.
UAE Benefits Most People Forget
- No income tax. The UAE has no personal income tax, so your salary is what you get.
- Gratuity. After 1 year, you earn end-of-service pay: 21 days of basic salary for each of the first 5 years, then 30 days for each year after that.
- Ticket home. When your job ends, the employer must pay your one-way ticket home (except in some cases, like when you join another company in the UAE).
- Annual flight ticket is not required by law. You get it only if your contract says so. Ask before you sign.
Things That Can Cut Your Savings
- Basic pay vs total salary. Gratuity is calculated on basic pay only. Check how much of your salary is basic.
- No accommodation in the offer. Rent can take almost half of a driver’s salary.
- Agent fees. Genuine UAE employers do not ask you to pay for a job. Check any offer with our Fake Job Checker.
- Licence costs. Drivers and nurses need a UAE licence. Ask who pays for it.
- Being away from family. This is not a number, but it matters. Plan your visits and calls.
Is a UAE Job Worth It?
For most of these jobs, yes, if the offer is real and the numbers work for you. Before you say yes, check three things in your offer letter: basic salary, accommodation and transport, and the contract length. Then do your own math with the costs above.
