Day-To-Day Work

Your work will centre on the manual encoding station and its surrounding baggage-handling area. Duties combine station operation, bag movement, routine checks, housekeeping and compliance with airport safety procedures.

• Operate the manual encoding station during assigned shifts.
• Monitor and manually scan bags held because of their size or system jams.
• Sort bags according to no BSM, no-read status, airline and missing tags.
• Refill tubs at the station and transfer them where needed.
• Respond promptly when operational calls are dispatched.
• Carry out regular checks around the assigned work area.
• Hand over out-of-gauge and other bags as instructed by the shift leader.
• Keep the system and surrounding baggage-handling area clean.
• Follow company procedures, airport regulations, baggage-handling system procedures and health, safety and environment requirements.
• Wear the required personal protective equipment correctly and consistently.

Requirements And Operational Skills

The work includes physical handling and activity under pressure, so you must be able to maintain awareness in a busy environment. Vanderlande also asks for basic technical ability and enough flexibility to respond to changing system and staffing needs.
