Welder Job Summary
Main Welding And Repair Duties
Your work will cover welding and fabrication tasks on the dredger, along with repairs to marine equipment and structural components. The main responsibilities are:
- Carry out welding, cutting, grinding and fabrication work on the dredger.
- Repair and maintain dredging equipment, pipelines, hopper structures, steel plates and machinery.
- Complete welding repairs on suction pipes, discharge lines, brackets, frames and steel components.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
- Assist with planned maintenance, breakdown repairs and dry-docking activities.
- Inspect welded joints for defects and compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Operate and maintain welding machines, grinders and cutting torches.
- Coordinate with engineering and engine-room personnel to complete repair jobs.
Certificates And Onboard Safety Requirements
Marine welding work under this vacancy has specific certification and safety conditions. You must meet the following requirements:
- Hold STCW certification.
- Hold a medical certificate that meets ILO/MLC requirements.
- Follow onboard permit-to-work, hot-work permit and confined-space entry requirements.
