  • IFSAC, DoD and/or ProBoard certifications must cover Firefighter I and II and ARFF Firefighter.
  • Your certifications must also cover hazardous-material awareness and operations, apparatus driver operation and public telecommunicator duties.
  • Required incident-command training includes ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800, along with Emergency Medical Responder certification.
  • You need considerable knowledge of aircraft egress, aircraft safety procedures, rescue and firefighting techniques, first aid and CPR.
  • English proficiency at Level 3 is required.
  • You must hold a valid driver’s licence.
  • A physical assessment forms part of the selection process. You must also meet the stated visual-acuity standards and have normal colour discrimination.
