About the Role
Based within Power Operations, the position supports EGA’s energy and manufacturing activities. Work takes place in the control room or field and covers the utility systems assigned to the operator.
Daily operations involve watching instrument readings and plant parameters closely. You will identify deviations, abnormalities and equipment problems, then record and report them through the required operational process.
The work also connects operations with maintenance activity. You will help prepare equipment for isolation, support recommissioning and maintain readiness for emergencies within your designated area of responsibility.
Key Duties
- Operate gas turbines, steam turbines, waste heat boilers and associated plant equipment.
- Start up and shut down turbine systems safely from the control room when assigned.
- Operate potline rectifier transformers from the control room.
- Communicate with customers under the supervision and instruction of the system controller.
- Carry out routine checks and monitor instrument readings and plant parameters.
- Assist with equipment start-up, shutdown and isolation for maintenance work.
- Record routine readings and report deviations, abnormalities or equipment problems.
- Support equipment testing and recommissioning activities.
- Help maintain emergency equipment readiness and plant housekeeping standards.
- Support on-the-job training when required.
