About the Role
Based in the Housekeeping & Laundry department, this position supports the laundry operation within Marriott’s hospitality property. Your work covers the processing of articles from washing and drying through inspection and final folding.
Quality control is an important part of the job. You will check articles for stains or damage, decide what further treatment is needed and place completed items into clean linen carts.
Equipment care and accurate records also form part of the daily work. The job involves laundry machinery, dry-cleaning equipment, dryers, filters, screens and drain traps.
Key Duties
- Operate and monitor washing, dry-cleaning and drying machinery, including adding chemicals and cleaning lint traps.
- Identify stained or damaged items and decide whether they need repair, spot treatment, rewashing or disposal.
- Inspect cleaned articles and place them into clean linen carts.
- Set dryers to the designated times and temperatures for each type of fabric being processed.
- Remove lint and debris from dryer screens, dry-cleaning filters and drain traps.
- Fold cleaned articles by hand or with a folding machine.
- Maintain accurate records of laundered items.
- Follow safety, security, quality and company procedures, including reporting accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions.
