Wafid Medical Test for Gulf Jobs: How It Works

wafid medical test

Quick answer: The wafid medical test is the approved pre-departure health check for people travelling to a GCC country for work or residence. You book through Wafid, attend the assigned medical centre, complete the required tests, and check your fit or unfit result online.

You Got A Gulf Job Offer. What Happens Next?

You may have received an offer letter on WhatsApp, and someone is now asking for money for “visa processing” or a medical appointment. Slow down first. A Wafid appointment is booked through the official wafid.com website, not through a random agent or a social media contact.

For Indians travelling for work or residence in a GCC country, the wafid medical test is part of the pre-departure process. Wafid is a programme under the Gulf Health Council. It connects applicants with accredited medical centres and records the medical result electronically.

The test does not prove that a job offer is genuine. Check the employer, contract, salary and visa details separately. You can also use GluJob’s Fake Job Checker before sending documents or money.

Who Needs The wafid medical test?

The Wafid programme covers people travelling to a GCC country for work or residence. India is listed among the countries whose nationals can use the programme. The destination countries are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

The official regulations say the medical examination applies to expatriates coming for work or residence, except people under 16. The regulations also say a vaccination card should be attached. Your employer or visa office may ask for other documents too, so check the current visa checklist before booking.

This is normally a pre-departure examination in the applicant’s home country. After arrival, the health authority in the destination country may conduct another medical examination. A fit result before travel does not guarantee that every later visa or local health check will be approved.

Documents And Details You Should Keep Ready

The Wafid booking page asks for personal and passport information. Keep your passport beside you while entering the form. Do not depend on a photograph or an old photocopy.

  • Passport details, including the passport number, issue date, expiry date and place of issue.
  • Full name, date of birth, nationality, gender and marital status.
  • Country you are travelling to and visa type.
  • Active email address and phone number for OTP verification.
  • National ID details if the form asks for them.
  • Job position, if you know the position listed in the employment documents.
  • Vaccination card or other medical records if the centre or destination authority requests them.

Save a clear copy of the appointment slip and payment confirmation. Check spelling carefully. Wafid says errors can include the passport number, name, nationality, profession, date of birth, visa details and passport dates.

The FAQ says a Standard medical centre is assigned automatically based on the selected city and country. The current booking page says the Premium Appointment allows you to choose a preferred medical centre and appointment date. Follow the option displayed for your application.

What Is Tested In The wafid medical test?

The examination is wider than a simple blood test. The official Wafid regulations describe medical history, clinical examination, laboratory tests, psychological and mental-status checks, and a chest X-ray.

Area What May Be Checked
General examination Height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, eyesight, colour vision and hearing.
Physical examination Heart, lungs, abdomen, limbs, skin, nervous system and other general findings.
Blood tests Complete blood count, haemoglobin, malaria, microfilaria, blood sugar, liver and kidney functions, HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and selected syphilis tests.
Urine and stool Urinalysis, sugar, albumin and checks for parasites or intestinal infections, including additional endemic-area checks where applicable.
Radiology Chest X-ray to check for lung disease and abnormal findings.
Mental status Assessment of behaviour, thinking, mood, cognition and judgement.

Exact instructions can depend on the official medical form and the centre’s process. Do not skip a test because somebody says it is “not needed”. If the centre does not conduct a required laboratory test or chest X-ray, report the problem through the official Wafid support or complaints channel.

If you may be pregnant, tell the medical centre before the X-ray. The regulations include specific instructions for pregnant women joining their families, and list pregnancy as an unfitness case for a work visa. Ask the centre for the correct procedure rather than guessing.

How Long Does The Medical Result Take?

Under the Wafid regulations, an accredited centre must issue the medical fitness certificate within a maximum of three days from the examination date.

After the wafid medical test, use the Wafid Medical Examination Result page. You can search with your passport number and nationality, or with your GCC slip number. Keep checking the official portal rather than trusting an agent’s screenshot.

If payment was taken but no slip was generated, Wafid asks applicants to contact its official support email with details such as nationality, payment date and time, passport number, name and transaction evidence. Do not make repeated payments without checking your bank statement.

How Long Is The Medical Certificate Valid?

The Wafid regulations state that the medical certificate issued by an accredited centre is valid for two months from the issue date for issuing or approving the visa.

Do not confuse the medical certificate validity with the appointment slip validity. The appointment slip shows its own expiry date. Wafid says you can change the city after the current appointment slip expires and then generate a new slip.

The medical certificate is not a permanent health clearance. If your visa process is delayed beyond its validity, ask the employer or visa authority what must be renewed. Never assume an old report will be accepted.

What Does Fit Or Unfit Mean?

Fit means the accredited centre has recorded that you meet the GCC medical criteria for the stated job and destination. It is one part of the employment and visa process. It does not guarantee a visa, flight ticket, job joining date or final employment.

Unfit means the result does not meet the listed medical criteria. Wafid’s official material includes positive HIV, hepatitis B or hepatitis C results, malaria or microfilaria, leprosy, and certain abnormal chest X-ray findings such as tuberculosis-related changes.

The listed non-infectious conditions include kidney failure, liver failure, heart failure, uncontrolled hypertension, uncontrolled diabetes, cancer, certain psychological or neurological disorders, and physical conditions that prevent the person from doing the job. The regulations also list haemoglobin below 7 g/dL and pregnancy for a work visa among the unfitness cases.

These are official screening criteria, not a diagnosis of your complete health. If you think a result is wrong, ask the centre for the written result and complaint or appeal process. Do not pay somebody who promises to change the online status.

Common Mistakes Indian Applicants Make

Many problems happen before the medical examination itself. A single wrong passport digit can delay the process.

  • Booking from an unofficial website that copies the Wafid name.
  • Entering a nickname instead of the name printed in the passport.
  • Choosing the wrong destination country or visa type.
  • Using an old passport after receiving a new one.
  • Failing to save the slip and payment confirmation.
  • Waiting several days before visiting the assigned centre.
  • Paying an agent for a “guaranteed fit” result.
  • Assuming a fit medical result confirms that the job offer is genuine.

If you entered wrong information, Wafid says you should contact the medical centre and ask it to submit a “Change candidate details” or “Change medical exam request”. The FAQ says the change request is free of charge. Ask for the request number and submission date.

How To Stay Safe Before You Pay

Use only the official Wafid website for booking and status checks. Check the medical centre through the Wafid Medical Centers List before travelling.

Be especially careful if someone asks for a large amount to “release” your Wafid result, change a fit status or guarantee a visa. Wafid cannot guarantee your job or visa, and GluJob is not a recruitment agency or visa agent.

Verify the employer through its own company career pages. Keep copies of your signed offer, passport, receipts, medical slip and all messages. If you need to prepare for applications, GluJob also has a free ATS CV Maker.
